British Padel Tour Gold event at Middlesbrough Padel Club

What a fantastic weekend of padel. Middlesbrough Padel Club hosted a British Padel Tour Gold event for the first time last weekend and what a great success it was.

The weather was kind on Sunday, but Padel Tech’s court cover really came into it’s own on Saturday as we were subjected to some heavy showers and yet play remained continuous.

Competitors travelled from all over the country and the standard of padel was very high. We enjoyed many exciting and highly competitive matches.

The open event final was between Jorge Martinez & Angel Benito and Ryan Wyatt & Nikhil Mohindra, with Jorge and Angel winning in the third. The vets final was contested by Nick Holloway & Stuart Gill against Peter Vann and Paul Layfield, with Nick and Stuart emerging victorious.

Thanks go out to British Padel and sponsors Redwood Bank, Dunlop, Estrella Damn and Padel Shack, without whom these events would not be possible.

Thanks also to club manager and tournament organiser Nigel Garton for the time and effort he put in to maintain the smooth running of the tournament, this despite competing in both the open and vets events.

The next event at Middlesbrough Padel Club is the Interclub Championships Regional on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th May 2019.
