Solar Bat was founded in 1994 by Dr Gary Nesty, a Doctor of Optometry, in the USA. Dr Nesty remains a part time practising Optometrist and is the owner and CEO of Solar Bat, which remains a family business.

In 2013, Solar Bat Australia was born when Lee Taylor became the Solar Bat distributor, outside North America, for their tennis tint sunglasses.

Importantly, padel players benefit equally from Solar Bat's "tennis tint” as the lens technology mutes all colours except optic yellow (the ball) and white (the court lines and the ball) resulting in players seeing the ball with far greater clarity.

A pack consists of a pair of the tennis/padel specific sunglasses, a Solar Bat hard case and a Solar Bat microfibre pouch.

These are the features which, when considered overall, make these sunglasses unique:

• A darker gradient along the top third of the lenses which minimises “sun blindness” when hitting high shots and overheads.
